From May, 22 to 29 2010, in the magical splendours of the Cappadocia
From May, 22 to 29 2010, Cap au Sud-Evasion will be hosting the fourth edition of the “Piste des Oasis” in Turkish in the region of Cappadocia. The event is aimed at runners wishing to experience nature racing who want to discover the multiple and fabulous facets of the Cappadocia landscape. Four stages, each between 20km and 34km long, will highlight the very different types of lunar and nature landscape including canyons, rock formations beyond belief, traditional villages in the valleys, "table top" mountains, "fairy chimneys, Cappadocia in rock-cut churches, etc…
Each stage is clearly marked out with motorised logical and medical support available at the various manned checkpoints along the way. All participants will be transported by minibus vehicles between the hotel and the various starting and finishing points. No special kit is required except for a water container and the course is designed to be completed within a reasonable time-frame by runners of all levels.
“La Piste des Oasis” is also about discovering Cappadocia and its culture. Several shows and cultural excursions will be organised and the organisation’s vehicles with driver-guides will be available for use. One free day ensure plenty of time to visit the area or even do some extra more sport! We will propose you on site some possibilities to do.

- Saturday 22 May
Meet the “Piste des Oasis” departure at Paris , Lyon or Nice airport for a scheduled Turkish Airlines flights to Ankara via Istanbul. Estimated departure mid day and estimated arrival to Ankara is scheduled in the evening. Night in Ankara.

Transfer in the morning to Cappadocia. Stop to discover a famous salt lake. Then, lunch and stop scheduled to Avanos in a famous cave. Arrival at Urgup in the middle of afternoon. Hotel installation and race booking formalities with checking of requested materials. Diner and overnight. - Monday 24 May
Stage 1: 23km across varied terrain (dirt track, rock plateaus, mule trails, traditional village crossing, wild Cappadocia nature) with a finish after Damsa lake. Transfer back to hotel. A local visit will be scheduled within the afternoon. Diner and night. - Tuesday 25 May
Stage 2: 20km to discover Ihlara Canyon, a "mirage" in the Steps of Anatolia up to Belisirma village, the ancient Peristrema: Beginning of stage by "Valley of the Sky" along the Melendiz River. Rock-cut churches, spread across a wild plantation, surprise you with their successfully painted representations from the Bible. Paintings are within caves churches belonging the race way. After Belisirma will be the more famous canyon area along the river.
After race, a stop by Selime, a village with cathedral and cave houses at the end of the canyon and a "star wars" like landscape.
During way back, stop to Kaymakli Underground City, one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia. It is situated closed to Soganli Valley where an Open Air Museum is in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocia village with its different style Rock-Cut churches and frescoes. Villages are in the valleys, surrounded by the "table top" mountains. Come back to hotel, diner and overnight. - Wednesday 26 May
Stage 3: 35km to discover all landscapes provided by Cappadocia for the selective section of la “Piste des Oasis”.
The course criss-crosses two canyons, plateaus at the top of region, crossing a pass at 1650m , long dirt tracks. All ones give a fascinating insight into the various human and farming activities supported by this center of native Cappadocia.
Pause. Picnic and come back to hotel, diner and overnight. - Thursday 27 May
R&R day. Choice of activities and visits will be provided all day or farniente at the hotel or visiting Urgup city!
Lunch at hotel. diner and overnight. - Friday 28 May
Stage 4: 25km to discover nicer landscapes of Cappadocia. Beginning by crossing Love valley, we pass Cavousin village to enter Rose Valley followed by Red Valley. Both are considerate as nicer places in Cappadocia. Then long dirt tracks will lead to reach back Urgup to end this week of race.
Final arrival to hotel with welcome. Lunch and wards time to reward runners and all participants for this 4th “Piste des Oasis”.
Transfer back to Ankara hotel in the afternoon. Diner at hotel. Overnight. - Saturday 29 May
Transfer to Ankara airport for scheduled Turkish flight back to Paris, Lyon or Nice via Istanbul. Estimated departure early in the morning. Estimated arrival in France mid day.

Registration on web site for the “Piste des Oasis” Cappadocia 2010 is £1180 or 1290 € up to December, 31 2009. Supplement of 100€ after (90£)
Payment has to be done in Euro only.
The fee includes :

During your stay you will have possibility to go in Sarihan Caravanserai near Avanos to see the whirling Dervishes of Mevlana, founder of Sufism in Turkey.

All participants will be staying at the modern, comfortable 3* Surban hotel in Urgup or Selcuklu Evi charming hotel closed to the other one (with supplement of 80€ to pay for Selcuklu Evi)
All rooms are en-suite with air-conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV and a telephone. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, a traditional bar, some terraces.
Bicycles could be also available on request for day free for individual discovery and visiting the surrounding area and there are plenty of other exciting activities such local shopping, hot-air ballooning.
One of the evenings will be spent in hotel after a dinner before day free.

Passport with at least 6 months validity past 01/06/10. UK citizens do not require a visa.
By Cap au Sud Organisation request, you must provide the race # organisers with a medical certificate signed by your GP stating that you are apt to undertake an endurance event of this type. These documents should be dated no more than one year prior to the event.
